"'Negroes' most urgent Needs'The main idea of this primary source is to inform all of the black peoples needs in society. Simply demanding equality in every aspects of their lives. They had every right to demand these needs that were granted to white people. They simply wished for equality when riding buses for example, they wanted to be able to fill every bus from back towards the front, without the factor of race coming into play. Also their representation in parks, job opportunities, and overall their lifestyles. They simply wanted equality in such a segregated country.
The speaker is Montgomery Negroes in regards towards blacks and their rights for equality. The original letter came from Montgomery Alabama from Inez Jessie Baskin Papers. The audience is US citizens but is strictly directed towards the government in order for them to enforce these changes. Its main purpose or why it was created was to inform the need of black people and how they deserved equality. It was mainly about there needs for equality in all aspects of their lives. Tonkin Gulf ResolutionStarts off by outlining the intention to promote security in Southeast Asia. Takes a stand against communist aggression by directly referring to the attack on a US ship. It notes that the US has no political or economic interests in Southeast Asia. Rather that they would like to see its people determine their own destiny. In order to ensure this the Senate and House of Representatives to allow the President to take any measure necessary to protect US armed forces in Southeast Asia.
This is significant because it gives LBJ a blank check to escalate the war in vietnam as he sees fit. The tremendous spending in Vietnam would come to haunt him when his double dipping in defense and great society spending would hurt the nation.
